While this could be a slightly dated presentation, (built in 2004)...the principles and theories highlighted in the document are timeles.

12.45pm on a Saturday

Saturday nights, which are known to be the party, unwinding and, euphemistically, known as the 'letting-your-hair-down-days', finds me in front of my PC trying to write a deep philosophical thought..some semblance to close the week, with a provoking thought...! I can't think of anything worthwhile. Just another week (!)
All i could remember about the week was...it was hot ! hotter ! and hottest ! (climatically speaking)..Also the year end appraisals / evaluations got done. Come to think of it, it must have added to the rather warm climate..!
My daughter is still away in vacation, will be back next week on 20th May. Really looking forward to meeting up with her...! She has never left us for such a long time, in all of her 7 years. Waiting for my baby to come back home, to me. I know the next 10 days will be filled with her recounting the magical month she spent with her cousins in Chennai. The swimming lessons, the Zoo and the Planeteurium visits, long drives in the Old Mahabalipuram roads, numerous ice creams to quench the Chennai heat...! Iam really looking forward to her stories. How times change..! Couple of years back, i was the one telling her stories of my long trips from home. This is complete role reversal. My daughter is growing...growing fast..!

Great White Blank Screen

As is sit in front of my comp screen, staring at a blank white screen, willing myself to write something, iam reminded of a well known Creative Director, Mohammed Khan (the Vadilal/Charms/NECC man), saying that the "..most frightning part for a writer is to stare at a blank page (when they actually put pen to a paper..!), and not knowing when and what to begin with.."Iam almost proud that iam facing the same emotions right now, that the great copy writer faced day in and day out..(Comp screen in place of Paper..so much for technological advances !).Now that i have put down some remnants of some begining of a writing...i will now take a break and will return with more nonsensical thoughts..!

Ishwar, a musical prodigy

March 15, Ishwar, a cousin brother of mine, all of 33 years of old, passed away in Mumbai. It was due to multiple complications brought on by Colitis of the Intestine. But the saddest part is, that he fought the disease for almost 4-5 years. Just when we all thought he was getting on top of his condition, and was turning the corner..the final blow came. It was most unexpected. Gone in 10 excruciating days.

Its never easy to lose a relative.

Its very much harder to lose a younger cousin, at the prime of his life.

Its the hardest to lose someone, and to watch him slip away, in pain towards the dark unknown world.

I guess the memory of losing Ishwar will haunt my family members for life...and what we will sadly remember is the pain and torture he had to go through.

But the memory of him being incredibly gifted in Music, might be a small memory.

Which is even more tragic. He was almost a prodigy in playing the synthesiser, composing music on his PC and on his synth. He had already composed music with his pals on some original lyrics and songs. I hope the recording and tracks do exist with his friends and with my uncle, somewhere. I hope to create a CD of Ishwar's recordings and post it on my blog someday (sooner the better). While we have lost him in his prime of life, what we need to remember is that his music, his cryptic humour and his habit of reaching out to help people will live forever. If anyone is reading this, please tell me how to upload audio files, on this blog.

Hot summer days, and client meetings

Iam in advertising/media business, in Mumbai. Usually at any other given time/month of the year (incl the famous Mumbai monsoons), our reception area is always packed with the visitors form the Ad- Sales dept of Media companies. Today it's a hot day in Mumbai (30 degree cent, in the shade..if u can find one in this city). Hardly any people would like to travel in the afternoons (the peak business hours for an organisation). The reception area of our office is unnaturally quite (like the last 2 days). I guess it would take a lot of motivation to shift out of the cool environs of one's office and travel in a hot ramshackled cabs across the city. But this doesn't seem to be the case with the Agency dept of client servicing (incl the Media -Client Servicing). The client meetings and presentations are well on time, and as scheduled..! But then the clients always do get the best of service from their Business partners..!

The Metrosexual Males, and their tribe

Hi..iam back again. Post the break, and a little more brave.. and to top it,i have a question ! It would be great if someone/somewhere can shed some light ?Do we see a trend of the metrosexual male beautification products and categories growing in the years to come ? Categories like Men fairness creams (esp in India), Male mosituriser lotions, Men specific skin lotions etc are seeing the light of day.. This is defintiely a trend which is against all the long standing concept of scruffy, stubbled and tough male image (a la Marlboro cowboy or the sweat drenched Old Spice man). Thanks to Beckham & co..the metrosexual male (and the products to pander to them) is on the rise...initially it was thought that this was a fad, and it will pass. But now it seems to stay..! Will this trend continue ? Will we see more male beautification categories / brands ?
